Pencil Artist of the Week: Cath Riley
Pencil artist Cath Riley has created many, many works in pencil, and almost all of them have a special emphasis on texture, shading, and shape. This picture, for example, very expertly portrays the wrinkles and crannies of the hand of an elderly person. Notice the sagging skin, the wrinkles in the bent wrist, and the picture’s ability to transfer humanity and realism, even though we can’t see what or who the hand is connected to.
