Pencil Artist of the Week: Ari (Opheliac-Noire)

Pencil Artist Opheliac-Noire

This week’s featured artist is Ari, a pencil artist who goes by the handle Opheliac-Noire on DeviantArt. Her username is a homage to Shakespeare’s Ophelia and Emilie Autumn, a singer-songwriter, poet and violinist who influences her work.

“For the colored pieces, I use Faber castell Polychromos, and sometimes Albrecht Dürer (FC watercolour pencils). I often start a drawing with a watercolor wash as a base, then build layers and depth with pencils. Oh, and a white gel pen/gouache are really useful for the finishing touches.”

The influence of Emilie Autumn can be seen in the bright colors Ari uses in many of her drawings. In addition to these brightly colored color pencil pieces, Ari’s gallery features some more experimental works, including 3D drawing that absolutely explode off the page.
