Pencil Artist of the Week: Amy (peanutboota)

This week’s featured artist is Amy, a pencil artist from Jersey who goes by the handle peanutboota on DeviantArt. Amy primarily works with color pencils, but she has been known to pick up a graphite pencil from time to time:

“I use Faber-Castell Polychromos pencils for my coloured pencil drawings, usually on card or cartridge paper. I don’t often do black and white drawings but when I do I just use any standard set of graphite pencils I happen to have lying around.”

Amy also creates digital illustrations using Adobe Photoshop CS4 and a Wacom tablet.

Amy’s drawings feature a realistic style with a touch of painted stylization that reminds of the work done by Team Ico on their Ico, Shadow of the Colossus and The Last Guardian video games. I particularly like her children’s book illustrations, which she worked on for her final college project. She works primarily in blacks, browns and greys with pops of color that make her drawings come to life.
