Pencil Artist of the Week: BaileyT

This week’s featured pencil artist is BaileyT, a pencil artist from the United States who creates photorealistic color pencil drawings, oil paintings, and digital pieces. Regardless of how she finishes them, all of Bailey’s drawings start with graphite on simple toned paper that she cuts to size.

Here’s a short excerpt from Bailey’s DeviantArt profile that describes her artistic background:

“I have always had a love for art, and drawing was something I did around the clock as a child. I found a love for portraiture when I was 11. Appreciating great photography and wanting to make it my own piece of art was something I craved. I started using Prismacolor pencils in high school, and for the price and quality they are hard to beat when you don’t have a big budget for supplies.

I have started using more oils and watercolor pencils lately and have loved the effects. I currently am a stay at home mom hoping to keep my skills fresh and growing so that one day (when time permits) I can make more of a career out of my talents.”

Bailey achieves photorealistic detail in her drawings, and her colors are bright without being cartoony. My favorite drawing in her gallery is “Father and Son.” I love how the shadows fall across the father’s face, and the subtle texture she adds to the clothing.
