Pencil Artist of the Week: Madame Talbot
This week’s pencil artist is Madame Talbot, a poster artist specializing in the so-called Victorian Lowbrow genre who loves pencils. She uses them every day, and expects them to perform when adding intricate detail to her drawings.
“I first sketch onto tracing paper, so I don’t mess up my illustration board,” she told me. “Once the illustration is perfect, then I put the finished pencil illustration onto the board. “The really messy looking photos you will see are the first pencils on tracing paper. You can see the difference once I have put the illustration onto board, you can see how clean it looks.”
