Pencil Artist of the Week: Christy (Twenty2High)

Pencil Artist Twenty2High

This week’s featured pencil artist is Christy (Twenty2High), an aspiring animator from Canada who creates gorgeous pencil and ink drawings. Christy’s drawings may appear simple at first glance, but further inspection reveals drawings that are filled with energy and character.

Christy works primarily with pencil, but she has recently begun experimenting with pens, inks and paints. Christy explained why she prefers graphite over other mediums:

“I normally use any 0.5 or 0.7 mechanical pencils, Faber-Castell dust-free eraser, Staedtler kneadable eraser, and a tortillon.

I’ve always preferred drawing with pencil because of the “looseness” of the line, where I can go very detailed or not. But I’ve also been experimenting with different materials and right now I really like the look of pen and ink drawing using Prismacolor premier fine line markers.”

Christy’s work caught my attention thanks to its attention to detail. Her drawings may not be hyper-detailed in the traditional sense, but she does the little things right, like a knee bent at a perfect angle or an umbrella tilted ever so slightly in the wind.
