Pencil Artist of the Week: Katarina Wong

Pencil Artist Katarina Wong

This week’s featured pencil artist is Katarina Wong, a visual artist and curator based in New York City. Her work has been shown nationally and internationally in museums ranging from the Bronx Museum in New York to the Nobel Museum in Stockholm, and is currently featured in several collections, including the Scottsdale Museum of Art and the Frost Art Museum. When she is not creating award winning works of art, Katarina works as the Director of Community and Curatorial Engagement at a large communications firm in New York.

Katarina’s latest works are a series of paintings created using graphite and watercolor pencils. These paintings marry what appear to be elements of street art and futurism to startling effect. Katarina describes the paintings as an “attempt to show various psychological and emotional states in a single image” and, judging by the various emotions they evoke, I would have to say she has succeeded.
