Pencil Artist of the Week: Joe Fenton
This week’s pencil artist is one that works on a grand scale. His name is Joe Fenton and his projects measure as much as five feet high by 8 feet wide. Each project’s size and scope and Joe’s attention to detail causes each project to take months, and sometimes over a year, to complete.
The subjects of Joe’s work are whimsical and surreal, with a touch of morbidity. He starts every project out in graphite, and then goes over the finished project with ink. The results are stunning black and white images that recall the look of woodblock prints, albeit with much more detail.
