Pencil Artist of the Week: Pablo Damas
This week’s featured artist is pencil artist Pablo Damas, a graphic designer, tattoo artist and apparel designer living in Los Angeles, California. Pablo creates works that are raw and expressive, utilizing deep blacks and soft greys to create his unique style.
In his sophomore year of high school, Pablo was recommended to the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts and, after showing his portfolio, he was accepted to attend. Upon graduating, Pablo knew he wanted to be an artist
Pablo was accepted to the Otis School of Art but, due to financial reasons, instead decided to work his way through community college. In the 15 years since graduating, he has continued to learn, master, and adapt to changes in the art world.
Pablo’s media of choice are acrylic paint, graphite, and charcoal. The drawings of the tiger and woman below were drawn using Prismacolor pencils, while the drawing of the Native American was drawn using a Blackwing pencil.

“I enjoy for the audience to tell me what my work means to them, not me tell them what it means to me.”
