Pencil Artist of the Week: GhostPatrol

This week’s featured pencil artist creates art that is unlike anything we’ve ever seen. His name is David, but he goes by the name of GhostPatrol, and he not only creates art with pencils, he creates art on pencils.

Every GhostPatrol original starts as a row of pencils. Once in place, GhostPatrol sands the pencils to create a surface for his illustrations and draws and/or paints directly onto the sanded area. The results are works of art that feature the pencil as the creative tool and the canvas.

The subjects of GhostPatrol’s works are characters of his own creation drawn in a style that is inspired by Japanese art and animation. While these drawings lack the realistic detail found in some other works of art, they come loaded with characters, stories and emotions that are hard to find.
