The Best Faber-Castell Advertisements

Over the years, pencil manufacturer Faber-Castell has produced some genuinely inspiring print ads that blur the lines between ad and art.  One of our chosen best pencil print ads was from a Faber-Castell colored pencil campaign.

Faber-Castell is one of the largest pencil manufacturers in the world.  They’re known for their high-quality colored pencils, drawing pencils and art supplies.  Backing Faber-Castell’s top-notch products are creative advertisement campaigns.  We’ve decided to share our favorite Faber-Castell advertisements with you.  

2012, “Artist Color Pencils” Classic Paintings

To promote their high-end Artist Color Pencils line, Faber-Castell employed Ogilvy to recreate classic paintings by artists such as Vincent Van Gogh.  Instead of sketching the paintings with the product, the advertisers decided to sculpt them out of the products themselves.  The agency cut and glued together countless Artist Color Pencils on canvas to produce amazing recreations.

These recreations not only demonstrate the vividness of Faber-Castell’s colored pencils but also captivate the viewer with their artistry.  Their recreation of Munch’s “The Scream” demonstrates the power of creativity coupled with fine-quality tools.

2011, Living Colors “Sky”

Faber-Castell’s colored pencil campaigns generally try to demonstrate the high quality of their colors.  This 2011 campaign uses stunning sky, snow, and space visuals to demonstrate the quality of Faber-Castell colored pencils by blending the colored pencils into the portraits.  The campaign makes a bold statement with minimal detail.

2008, “Relativity”

It’s appropriate that an advertisement for highlighters gets straight to the point.  Faber-Castell’s 2008 ad for their high-quality highlighters is clever and convincing, showcasing the importance of highlighting the main points.  The use of Einstein’s greatest work gives a touch of humor and charm.

2006, “Ideas”

Great ideas come from a pencil and an eraser, indeed.  Faber-Castell’s 2006 eraser ad has both a charming presence and a great product demonstration.  Look at how clean of an erasure that green eraser made!
