Pencil Artist of the Week: Monika
This week’s featured pencil artist is Monika, an artist from Poland who creates drawings, sketches and doodles using a combination of graphite and ink tools. Monika’s style is heavily influenced by Japanese animation and Manga, and her drawings feature the bright colors, large eyes and exaggerated expressions that define the genre.

Monika uses ballpoint pens, liquid ink, graphite and colored pencils in her drawings. She even posted a video showing off her tools:
One of my favorite drawings in Monika’s DeviantArt gallery is a study she created of various hairstyles. She sketched each hairstyle in pencil and then inked over them in pen, giving each style a level of detail that is extremely impressive. She then used the techniques she perfected during her study to sketch the hair for one of her larger pieces.
