Pencil Artist of the Week: Derek Castro

This week’s featured pencil artist is Derek Castro, a graphite pencil artist from Brazil who creates beautiful, yet haunting and surreal graphite drawings.

Derek utilizes a mechanical pencil to create sharp detailed lines that allow his figures and objects to stand apart from each other. He uses an airbrush to create soft touches that enhance his shading work and allows his objects to feel more lifelike.

Derek also sometimes uses coffee and ballpoint pen to create images that have a sepia-tone like effect.
