Pencil Artist of the Week: NakuNakuTenshi

This week’s featured artist is a pencil artist from Poland who goes by the handle “NakuNakuTenshi” on DeviantArt. NakuNakuTenshi’s gallery is filled with drawings of the Enneagram, a series of nine interconnected character drawings with each representing a different archetype of the human personality.

The Enneagram was derived from the teachings of Oscar Ichazo and Claudio Naranjo. The fundamental concept of the Enneagram is that there are nine principal characteristics of the human personality, each of which possesses specific virtues, vices, desires, fears, etc. Drawings like “III Achiever” and “IX Peacemaker” depict god-like beings who embody their respective characteristics in their form, setting and personality.

NakuNakuTenshi’s style is heavily influenced by classicism. Her subjects appear in traditional poses like the quarter turn and over-the-shoulder look, giving the subjects a regal, almost antiquated feel. Her drawings feature soft lines that give the subjects an ephemeral quality, as if they could ascend to the heavens at any moment.

NakuNakuTenshi uses pencils that range from 6B to 2H for her drawings. She also uses a standalone eraser for erasures, and a tortillon and cotton wool for blending and smudging.
