Pencil Artist of the Week: Miro Gradinšćak
This week’s featured artist is Miro Gradinšćak, a graphite pencil artist from Croatia who creates extremely detailed graphite drawings of subjects ranging from maps to pets.
Miro has a knack for recreating photographic realism using graphite. He uses Faber-Castell graphite pencils ranging from 3H to 8B, as well as a kneaded eraser and blending stump to create his drawings.
Eyes and hair are notoriously difficult for artists to capture, yet these two problem areas are where Miro’s skill with a pencil truly shines. He has an extraordinary ability to capture the life in his subjects’ eyes, and add the layers and details necessary to create lifelike hair, feathers and texture.
