Pencil Artist of the Week: Michele Parisi

Pencil Artist Michele Parisi

This week’s featured pencil artist is Michele Parisi, a pencil artist from Italy who creates pencils drawings of dinosaurs, dinosaurs, and more dinosaurs. Ever since I watched the Jurassic World trailer last week, I’ve been on a bit of a dinosaur binge, so I was really excited when I stumbled across Michele’s DeviantArt gallery.

All of Michele’s dinosaur studies feature at least two perspectives, including a stationary side perspective and a “candid” movement perspective. Many of her drawings also feature a sketch of the dinosaur’s skull and/or distinguishing skeletal features. His gallery features drawings of dinosaurs ranging from the classic T-Rex to a personal favorite, the Dilophosaurus.

Michele was kind enough to give us some insight into his creative process:

“I feel comfortable using 2 Staedtler HB pencils, one [dull] to sketch and find the volumes, and the other one sharpened to define the details. When I want to fill the drawing, I use a Staedtler 2B Mars Lumograph pencil.”
