Pencil Artist of the Week: Kamila Hyzova
This week’s featured artist is Kamila Hyzova, an art student from the Czech Republic who is studying to be an art teacher. Kamila works primarily with pens, but she does inject some color into her drawings using Koh-I-Noor color pencils.
“I mostly use Faber-Castell Ecco Pigment liner pens, Sakura Pigma Micron liner pens, Touch twin markers and Centropen markers, sometimes I use Koh-I-Noor watercolours (and) Koh-I-Noor Omega coloured pencils.
However, I like the liner pens best! Their expression is pure and simple, but still very accurate.”
As her preferred tools suggest, Kamila’s style emphasizes line work. Like a tattoo artist, Kamila’s lines are confident and well defined, as if they were etched into the paper. Her drawings are deceptively simple and deftly executed. They would look equally as beautiful carved into rubber stamps or cut into stencils.
