Pencil Artist of the Week: Jasmina Susak
This week’s featured artist is Jasmine Susak, a pencil artist from Hungary who creates colored pencil drawings of subjects ranging from wildlife to celebrities. Jasmina’s drawings are textbook examples of color pencil technique. In fact, she has an entire website dedicated to sharing her flawless technique with her fellow artists.
Jasmina primarily uses Prismacolor Premier colored pencils for her drawings, but she also uses Lyra Groove Slim colored pencils for fine lines and details. For highlights and white details, Jasmina uses a white gel pen and, for blending, she uses a colorless blender and a blending stump. Her paper of choice is Strathmore Bristol Smooth Paper, and her eraser of choice is a battery operated eraser. For more detail about which tools she uses and why, check out this post on her website.
Jasmina’s drawings have a painted look to them that is the result of layers upon layers of rich color. In addition to colored pencil drawings, Jasmina also creates graphite drawings that feature the same level of detail and the same flawless technique. Many of her drawings are accompanied by videos that show the techniques behind them, so aspiring artists can achieve the same level of detail and realism in their drawings.
