Pencil Artist of the Week: Enys Guerrero
This week’s featured artist is Enys Guerrero, a pencil artist from Venezuela who is influenced by the artists of the Renaissance and Victorian age and inspired “by mythological beings, magic and faerical creatures.” Enys shared her favorite art supplies and why she appreciates a quality tool when she finds it:
“I normally use H4 and H6 Paper Mate pencils for sketches, and for coloring I use Faber-Castell color pencils, pens and watercolors. This brand’s materials works great on Opalina paper, so that is the paper I prefer to work with. However, due the difficult times that my country (Venezuela) is passing through, sometime is very difficult to find good materials and different brand to choose from. That’s why I appreciate and love the good materials I’m lucky to find.”
Enys’ subjects are drawn in a grim, macabre style that features dark, saturated colors, thick lines and deep shadows. Her drawings would be at home on the front of a tarot card or in the pages of high-fantasy fiction.
