Pencil Artist of the Week: Cory Smith
This week’s featured pencil artist is Cory Smith, a graphite pencil artist and sculptor living in Illinois. When he isn’t out saving the world one convention at a time, Cory draws incredibly realistic and detailed renditions of comic superheroes and villains. How realistic you ask? Take a look for yourself.

Here’s a short bio written by Cory himself to give you a glimpse at the pencil artist behind the graphite:
Pencil Artist Bio
“Hi, my name is Cory Smith and basically, I’m a self-taught artist. My interest in art began as a child while watching my father draw. After High School I took a couple classes in figure drawing at the local community college, it was there that drawing both the male and female forms and learning about anatomy helped me develop my talent as an artist and a sculptor. My teacher hated my style so needless to say, after the 2 days in his class, I quit, but I kept on drawing with my faithfull # 2 HB pencils. Over the years I have dabbled in many different mediums of art: pencil and charcoal sketches, acrylics and oil on canvas and sculpting. In 11 years I completed 23 statues, mostly of Batman and Superman’s arsenal of villains. But now I’m back to pencil portraiture. My original works of art as well as prints can be found at numerous conventions throughout the US. So, feel free to look me up on my Deviant art page for a list of con’s that I will be showing at.”
