Pencil Artist of the Week: Kevin Williams

This week’s featured pencil artist is Kevin Williams, an artist currently living, working, going to school, and creating awesome pencil art in Tampa, Florida. We discovered Kevin’s artwork on DeviantArt, where his portraits combining graphite and color pencils stood out among the crowd of hundreds of thousands other Deviants.

Kevin’s drawings feature deep blacks and subtle greys that give his work an incredible amount of contrast. This contrast, along with the use of lush reds in his Cotto and Joker drawings, creates images that are both visually stimulating and intellectually intriguing. The use of red on the Joker’s lips and on Cotto’s gloves, specifically, seems deliberate, and evokes all of the thoughts, images, and emotions associated with the color.
