Pencil Artist of the Week: Abdon Jose Romero Diaz

I am REALLY excited about this week’s pencil artist. It isn’t every day that you find an artist whose subjects include Star Trek’s Dr. “Bones” McCoy or The Lone Ranger’s Tonto, but this week’s featured artist isn’t your everyday doodler. His name is Abdon Jose Romero Diaz, and he is a pencil artist who has mastered recreating the human form on paper.

Abdon’s drawings are often portraits and anatomy studies, though he is skilled at sketching scenes and comic panels as well. Regardless of the format, the human form is that core of all of Abdon’s drawings. His DeviantArt gallery is a study of the way the human body moves, ages, and interacts in space, and it is quite a sight to behold. Below are some examples of his pencil art.

In addition to his gallery, Abdon also provides drawing instruction through his DeviantArt profile. His latest release is a gesture drawing manual that teaches the “process and development of gesture drawing.” If you are interested in obtaining any of his instructional guides, you can write him at romeroabdonj@gmail.com.
