Pencil Artist of the Week: David Poppie

, ,

We’ve posted the work from this week’s pencil artist on our Tumblr, but that was before we knew who he was. His name is David Poppie, and he is an artist who creates art out of everyday items that are disregarded and ignored by the average person. He uses everything from matches to tea bags in his creations, but it’s the art that he creates out of pencils that caught our attention.

David uses all types of pencils in his art: whole pencils and split pencils, color pencils and graphite pencils. The way he uses these pencils, however, is unlike anything we have ever seen. Each pencil (or pencil piece) is meticulously placed and arranged to create colorful patterns and designs. The results are pencil tapestries that represent pencil art as well as any drawing or sketch.
