Pencil Artist of the Week: Jackosaurus Rex

This week’s featured pencil artist is Jackosaurus Rex, a pencil artist from the Netherlands who creates sketches of creatures inspired by pop-culture and his own imagination.

Jack uses 0.5mm HB mechanical pencils for his graphite drawings, 0.7mm colored mechanical pencils for his color pencil drawings and a 0.05 to 0.1mm sepia or black fineliner for his ink drawings. Jack likes to do each drawing in a single color, giving his drawings a monochromatic look

Some of Jack’s early drawings remind me of the work of comic penciler Chris Burnham. The lines in these drawings is, for lack of a better term, “shaky,” giving these drawings a very distinct style. His more recent work is drawn in a more stable, but no less distinct, style featuring numerous lines and textures.
