The Chuck Jones Experience Video Interview
The Chuck Jones Experience
A few weeks ago we were lucky enough to participate in the Chuck Jones Big Draw, an event put on by the Chuck Jones Center for Creativity that featured some of the best teaching artists in the world and set a world record for the most people drawing Bugs Bunny at the same time. The event’s namesake, Chuck Jones, was the Oscar-winning creator of such Looney Tunes characters as Bugs Bunny, Wiley Coyote and Elmer Fudd, and a proud user of the Blackwing 602 pencil.
Chuck’s vision in life according to his grandson Craig Kausen was to inspire creativity in all people, especially children. Craig and the rest of his family have focused on carrying out Chuck’s philosophy even after his death in 2002. Soon, they’ll be opening the doors of creativity to millions of additional people each year.
In October, the Chuck Jones Experience, an interactive exhibit designed to “Educate, Inspire & Entertain” people of all ages, will open at the Circus Circus in Las Vegas, Nevada. It sounds more like a theme park than exhibit, complete with a learning center where visitors can see how Chuck’s most famous charaters were created. At the Big Draw last month, we were lucky enough to talk with one of the visionaries behind the Chuck Jones Experience, its managing director Neil Cantor. Here’s what Neil had to say about how this project came to be, and what you can expect when it opens next month.
