Pencil Artist of the Week: WillowFelicity

This week’s featured artist is a pencil artist from Indonesia who goes by the handle WillowFelicity on DeviantArt. Willow creates drawings that combine black and white graphite elements with bursts of color from a variety of different mediums, including acrylic paints, watercolors and wax color pencils.

Willow uses Faber-Castell pencils for the graphite portions of her drawings, but she stresses that it is the artist’s skill with a pencil, not the pencil itself, that determines the outcome of a project. “None of my drawing tools are expensive,” she said. “I believe that it is not the quality of the tools that determines the result, but our skill.”

Whether it is in the form of an eye or a pop of color in the background, the pigment in Willow’s drawings is always a welcome addition. I can’t wait to see how she develops her style moving forward.
