Creative Uses for Pinterest

PinterestWe all know Pinterest as a social network that lets you bookmark links by way of sharing images, but it’s also so much more. (Don’t believe us? Check out Pencils.com on Pinterest and you’ll see what we mean.)

Create Uses for Pinterest

If you’re dedicated to keeping that beach bod through the fall, Pinterest can be used to create a board of delicious, low-calorie recipes to help you stick to your diet without sacrificing variety. Check out the Food & Drink category and repin your favorites, but beware of temptation! There are also plenty of tasty-looking desserts to be found. If you’ve got a long list of home improvement projects to complete, creating a board for them will help you keep track of what needs to be done. It can be hard to stay motivated when your beach towel beckons, but having a board with images of what you hope to accomplish can give you a push by showing you how great the finished product is going to look. You can also use those images to link yourself to handy how-to guides in case you get stuck.

Pinterest has the power to rescue you from boredom, and I don’t mean by spending hours scouring the internet for new pins. Check out the DIY & Crafts category if you have some free time on your hands. The page is currently dominated by knitting, crocheting, and sewing projects, but if that’s not your style some other creative craft ideas on the page include step-by-step directions for origami, friendship bracelets, and making hanging lights out of mason jars. There are even craft ideas for kids if you’re working with little ones, or if you’re clumsy like me and want to start out with a project where you’re sure to not lose a finger.

You can also use Pinterest to connect with friends in new ways. Girls’ night out? Create boards with your ladies to share clothing and make-up ideas. Help your friends choose their look with the added benefit of being able to see where they got those adorable shoes. Guys, Pinterest can help you bond with your boys as well. Post video highlights of the last game before getting together to watch the next one. Not only will watching the videos get you and your friends pumped, it’s a nice way to bring a friend up to speed who was stuck at work on Monday night and missed that epic touchdown everyone will be talking about. If you have a birthday coming up, creating a Wishlist board on Pinterest is a great way to help out your friends. Not only will they know what to get you, if you choose images from Amazon or the store’s website, they’ll be able to order it for you in a few quick clicks. You can also check out the Products category for unique gift ideas.

Pinterest is also a terrific way to spread the word. Link to The Hunger Site, The Animal Rescue Site, The Breast Cancer Site, and any others you feel passionate about to raise awareness. It’s also useful for keeping all of those “click to give daily” sites in one place so that you can make your life-saving (and might I add, free) contribution daily in under a minute. Now go ahead, don’t be shy – click on that Pin It button and share this article with your followers!
