Pencils.com, #Blogchat & Creative Writing

Pencils.com is proud to announce that we are the sponsor of this month’s #Blogchat! For those of you who aren’t familiar, #Blogchat is a weekly discussion held every Sunday night at 8pm Central. The discussion takes place on Twitter, with participants using the #blogchat hashtag to discuss different blogging topics based around a monthly theme. This month’s theme is creative writing, so partnering with #Blogchat was a no brainer.

Last night marked the first of this month’s discussions. It featured participants and special guest Kerry Gorgone from the Huffington Post discussing copyright, blogger disclosure rules, and other legal matter associated with blogging. The hour-long discussion was very lively, generating over 1500 tweets from hundreds of users. Click here to see a full transcript of the discussion, including some very interesting tidbits from Kerry.

Mack Collier, the mastermind behind #Blogchat, has posted the rest of November’s topics on his blog. Here’s a look at what the rest of the month has in store:

November 10th: The creative process.  We’ll look at how we write our blog posts, and also look at the digital and analog tools we use in the writing process.

November 17th: Guest posting.  We’ll discuss how to get guest-posting gigs as well as how to bring on people to guest-post on your blog.

November 24th: OPEN MIC!  No set blogging topic although I will probably have some questions about finding creativity in our writing in line with this month’s theme.

Last night’s discussion was a blast and, looking forward, it’s hard to not get excited. Next week’s discussion on the creative process and the tools we use should be particularly interesting, and we hope to see some of you there!
