Los Angeles has always been at the forefront of creativity in the arts. Southern California’s music scene is electrifying, with iconic clubs like Whiskey A Go-Go and The Viper Room helping launch the careers of bands from The Doors to Matchbox 20.
Most bands dream of playing the numerous clubs on the Sunset Strip, making a name for themselves, and maybe even making it big. You can’t really tell the story of Rock n’ Roll without mentioning Los Angeles, a city that has discovered so many celebrated musicians over the years.

Chuck Jones, the Early Years
Hollywood is at the epicenter of all things film and animation. This is the city where Chuck Jones himself cultivated his creative talents. According to the Chuck Jones biography, Chuck grew up in Hollywood, making pencil drawings for, “a dollar a piece on Olvera Street.” With such a rewarding career and a legacy that continues to live on to this day, it’s remarkable to hear that Chuck started out making so little money for his art.
L.A. is a city full of life, animated, making the creative mind flood with ideas. It’s no surprise that, Chuck, one of the greatest animators of all time, spent so much time here.
L.A. a City Full of Stories
Writers, too, have often left their quiet hometowns to seek adventure in the west, chasing the muse as far as they could, hoping to pitch that winning screenplay or breakthrough novel. Some of L.A.’s creative minds in writing include, Charles Bukowski, Bret Easton Ellis, and James Ellroy.
It seems that the city, its people, and the vitality and frenetic pace of life there must provides so much potential for literary inspiration. Ellroy has made a career out of writing this city to life.
