The Blackwing Sessions: Christian Tamburr
Today, Studio 602 at Pencils.com is proud to introduce our first Blackwing Featured Musician and the inaugural episode of The Blackwing Sessions, a series that will showcase how using a Blackwing pencil inspires art and facilitates the creative process.
Blackwing Sessions with Christian Tamburr
Christian Tamburr is one of the world’s most accomplished multi-instrumental jazz musicians, best known for his skills with the vibraphone. He was named “Outstanding Solo Jazz Performer” by Downbeat Magazine and has toured and performed with legendary musicians including Dave Brubeck, Ira Sullivan and Matt Wilson. He has even played privately for the likes of such larger than life stars as Michael Jordan and Julia Roberts. We spent an afternoon in the studio with Christian and his band while they recorded their most recent album “Places.” The entire record was composed and arranged by hand using a Palomino Blackwing 602 pencil, including Christian’s original composition “Sailing Serenity” which he plays and discusses in our first edition of Blackwing Sessions.

Excellent video and interview with an exciting jazz quartet. I must admit ,I am a bit partial since Christian is my kid. I found the questions in the interview to the point and generated great responses. Chris is literate and enlightening when it comes to discussing his craft. Pencils .com and Studio 602 have a very professional and refreshing understanding of what makes the arts a most important part of life. Now ,have you found an eraser that doesn’t smudge . Only kidding ! Owen Tamburr
Thank you for your kind words Owen. I’m glad you enjoyed the interview, because I know I did. Christian made it easy!
WOW!!! Supremely excellent video! FANTASTIC JOB!!!! Being both a Vibraphone player myself, and an extensive Blackwing Pencil user (thanks to you folks) I was thrilled to see this. Thank you!
