Pencil Artist of the Week: Jack Kaminski

This week’s featured pencil artist is Jack Kaminski, a pencil artist, comic illustrator, art director and concept artist from Brazil. Jack creates everything from hyper-realistic portraits, to surreal landscapes and, regardless of the subject or style, Jack executes each drawing with astonishing skill. In fact, many of his drawings are so meticulously crafted, it’s difficult to differentiate them from black and white photographs.

Despite the complex nature of his drawings, Jack’s creative process is fairly straightforward. He creates is drawings using graded 2B and 6B pencils on 200g Canson paper, and uses his finger as a smudging tool when necessary. One quirk in his process, however, is that he uses a black watercolor pencil rather than a color pencil to add depth to his drawings.
