Pencil Artist of the Week Hunter Herzog

This week’s featured artist is Hunter Herzog, a pencil artist living in California. He creates his pencil art using a variety of tools, including mechanical pencils, wood-cased Palomino pencils and woodless color pencils, and, regardless of which tool he uses, each of his drawings is stamped with his unique style.

Hunter started drawing at a young age without any formal training. “I saw paintings from the masters and characters on my favorite television shows and thought ‘I want to create that…’ So, one day I picked up a pencil, and I haven’t stopped since.” This marriage of the classic elements of art with an animated twist can be seen in Hunter’s work and gives his drawings a unique, whimsical feel.
