Pencil Artist of the Week: Armalitire

This week’s featured artist is Armalitire, a pencil artist and digital artist from the United States. Armalitire’s DeviantArt gallery is filled with characters of her own design, each with a unique look, name and backstory. Many of her drawings are of the digital variety, but we wouldn’t be here if her gallery didn’t feature some awesome pencil art as well.

Armalitire creates her pencil drawings using a plain, yellow Dixon Ticonderoga #2 pencil. It is a tool she is very well versed with, as evidenced by the range of the graphite found in her drawings. Despite only using one type of pencil, Armalitire still manages to create drawings that include light sketch lines, deep, black shading, and everything in between. It’s a testament to her skill with a pencil, but her skill with a pencil isn’t the only skill on display in her gallery.

Armalitire is incredibly adept at creating characters with compelling backstories, rivalries and, in many cases, dialogues. I found myself wanting to read more about each character, and I’ll be following along as Armalitire reveals more details about the world she’s created.
