Kickstarter Project: Slice Planner

“On The Mission To Bridge The Gap Between Paper Planner And The Digital Calendars”

The goal of this Kickstarter product? To bring a product that will cleanly integrate a paper planner with the convenience of technology.  By using the free Slice Planner mobile application, you can easily transfer your schedule from the written page to your digital calendar.

Notebook Features:

The notebook features a unique layout, with the left pages formatted for scheduling your day, and the right pages left with a dot grid, to allow for freedom and flexibility with your notes. At the end of the planner, there are 10 perforated dot grid pages that can be neatly torn out of the notebook, if necessary. The softcover also has refillable notebook inserts, so you can continue to use the same leather cover.

Application Features:

First and foremost, the application can digitize events from the planner and copy the events to your favorite digital calendar. You can write in the date and keep a physical schedule and have it backed up with your digital schedule.  The application’s augmented reality mode also adds a unique feature to the application.  When used, the application will be able to highlight overlapping events in red, allowing for a quick resolution via digital editing.

Aside from planning, the application also allows you to send your notes directly to any cloud service or email address. You can even attach the page to a specific calendar event. You can send the entire page, or use the smart crop feature to send only specific parts of the page.

Overall, the notebook is sturdy and well-made. The group is based out of the San Francisco Bay Area, with their production and research and development team located in Ukraine. The app that we were able to test out worked well, but was still a production build.  If the application functions as promised, this would be a great notebook for those who like to merge analog planning and note-taking with the digital world.  Even without the application, the notebook itself is a great product for people who are visual learners.
