The Fan Art of Dark Souls & Dark Souls 2

While video games may be more popular today than they’ve ever been in the past, it’s rare to find games with as strong a community as the Souls series has. People who haven’t played the game but have heard of it know that these games are considered some of the most challenging video games to come out in years, but that’s not the only thing that keeps Souls fans coming back for more.

Instead, it’s the gorgeously realized characters and locations, and the unendingly helpful community of gamers who play the Souls games that make them as special as they are. People actually enjoy helping each other by giving awesome tips, as well as by joining the game of a player in need in order to assist them past a section of the game they’ve been struggling with. It’s a sense of we’re in this thing together, and it’s a beautiful thing.

It’s no surprise, then, that Dark Souls’ legions of dedicated fans are also part of another dedicated community: the DeviantArt community.

Last month, the long-awaited Dark Souls 2 was finally released on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, so in honor of this wonderful video game series, I’d like to take a moment to appreciate some of the best fan art by DeviantArt artists, because with an awesome community like the one the Souls series has, comes equally awesome fan art.
