Pencils.com Likes to Give Back: Kids in Need and OiC

We here at Pencils.com try to be good citizens and community partners. That’s why every year we allocate 5% of our revenue to gifts of in-kind school supplies to selected charities. Based on our 2010 performance, we’ve decided to support the Kids in Need Foundation and Operation International Children. This month, we’ll be sending over 140 thousand pencils in total (graphite and colored) to these organizations!

The Kids in Need Foundation has a mission to ensure that every child is prepared to learn and succeed by providing free school supplies nationally to children in need throughout the United States. We are proud to be a part of that mission by donating thousands of good-quality pencils to promote their literacy and enhance their school experience. Founded by actor Gary Sinise and author Laura Hillenbrand, Operation International Children provides internationally what Kids in Need does domestically. Coalition troops bring school supplies to children in Iraq, Afghanistan, and have plans to broaden their scope even more! We hope that 70,000 pencils from Pencils.com can help OIC and our troops in their humanitarian mission.
