Kitaboshi Products Now Available at Pencils.com!

Today, Pencils.com is proud to introduce several products from the Kitaboshi Pencil Company to the Pencils.com store. From wood-cased mechanical pencils to color pencil highlighters, these products the are unlike anything we’ve offered in the past, and they all come from one of the most well known and respected pencil companies in Japan.

Kitaboshi, established in 1913 and located in Katsushika, Tokyo, has been family owned and operated for several generations and has a fascinating history within the highly regarded Japanese Pencil Industry. It also has some interesting similarities to Pencils.com’s parent organization, California Cedar Products Company, and their connection to wood. We’re excited to be able to feature a number of Kitaboshi’s unique products on the Pencils.com store, focusing primarily on their Wood Note natural finish Incense-cedar product line.

New Kitaboshi Products

One of the products we’re the most excited about is the Kitaboshi wood-cased mechanical pencil. This item breaks new ground at Pencils.com as it is the first mechanical pencil we have ever offered. Part of Kitaboshi’s Wood Note line, this pencil features a 0.5mm graphite HB lead cased in a beautiful natural finish cedar casing and a classic design with pocket clip. These pencils can utilize any standard mechanical pencil refill.

Another product we can’t wait for you to get your hands on are the Kitaboshi Wood Note highlighters. They let you highlight… in color pencil! How cool is that? These jumbo round pencils feature four highlighting colors:yellow, light green, pink and orange. They are available by the color in 5-packs, or in a 30-count pack that sits in a wooden cup also produced form Genuine Incense-cedar pencil slats.

Also available in this format is a dark, soft writing jumbo 6B pencil with a premium Japanese graphite large format graphite cores. The Wood Note 6B jumbo is available in the same 5 and 30-pack options. To “jumble” the jumbos up a bit we’ve also created both 5-pack and 30 pencil cup mixed set options that include one of each color and a 6B type or six of each of these pencils, respectively.  These Wood Note jumbo size pencils are not only fun for adults as highlighters and markers, but perfect for children who are just learning how to hold a pencil.

The quirkiness of our Kitaboshi product offerings continues with our next product: Kitaboshi double color pencils. Every Wood Note double color pencil set comes with six pencils and 12 different colors. How you ask? Well, each color pencil in the set features two colors, one on one end of the pencil and the other on the opposite end. Color combinations include white and black and the classic red and blue, making this set perfect for new double-sided pencil users and those who remember Kitaboshi’s classic vermillion and Prussian blue pencils.

For fans of ergonomically shaped triangular pencils, we have several selections of Kitaboshi graphite grades available in B, 2B, 4B and 6B, packed 6 pencils to a pack in individual grades. These natural finish medium sized triangular pencils are comfortable to use and offer a thicker than standard writing core.

Our final offering is Kitaboshi’s mixed grade graphite drawing set. This 12 pencil art set contains premium quality graphite pencils comparable to our Palomino range, but expanded to 12 different grades, from 4H to 6B.  This set is packaged in an attractive classic black tin container which offsets the natural cedar finish and makes a great gift item in addition to being a smooth drawing product line.
