Pencil Artist of the Week: Tamsin Ainslie
This weeks Pencil Artist of the Week is illustrator Tamsin Ainslie. She spends most of her time illustrating children’s books, drawing and painting, and printmaking. Here’s a short bio of the artist:
I come from a family of artists, my mother is an artist and my grandmother was an illustrator. I was always fascinated by her work and its something I wanted to do as long as I can remember. I did many other jobs along the way until I could comfortably work full time as an illustrator, such as working in bars, in shops, as a cycle courier, training & exercising racehorses & farm work has added to my life experience and ultimately my illustration work.
My main focus is on children’s book illustration and painting. I also illustrate regularly for several magazines, childrens toys & products, advertising & greetings cards. I also practice traditional printmaking skills including etching and screenprinting. I draw something from life everyday. I love to make little handmade books. At the moment I am also painting a small painting every day for my tiny pencil project @apenciladay.
Tamsin also has an awesome art auction on Instagram that you can follow @apenciladay, where she posts a small painting of a pencil and auctions them off. Take a look at some of her awesome pencil sketches below, as well as the paintings from her @apenciladay project.

I love miniatures! So, your beautiful pieces are what appeal to me and what I aspire to do, myself!
